Sciatica is a condition that involves mild, dull, or severe pain as well as a burning, numb, or tingling sensation running from the lower back, through the glute, down the hamstring (the post leg), behind the knee, and down to the bottom of the foot. There are many things that can cause sciatica, including the following: lumbar spinal stenosis, piriformis syndrome, herniated vertebral disc, and tight glutes.
Sciatic pain typically affects only one side of your body and can range in severity from mild to severe. It’s often accompanied by other symptoms, including numbness, tingling, or weakness in the affected leg and foot. Massage has great results in loosening the tight muscles and relieving pressure on the nerve. It won’t treat the underlying cause of your sciatic pain, but it may provide temporary relief from pain.
